Pitiful Pup

The After Hours Veterinary Emergency called me and they had a puppy dumped at their place on Saturday. Patricia W. had given me a heads up that they were going to contact me and they did. I went to see the puppy today at 2pm. I haven't seen a puppy looking this bad in ages. The poor little guy was emaciated, anemic and severely malnourished. They had dewormed him and managed to get all of the fleas off of him. They needed him moved fast because they are not supposed to keep strays at their clinic. There was a chance he would be sent to the local animal shelter tonite if we could not take him. Well, what was I supposed to do? I couldn't leave him there. Here was this little bag of bones under my feet looking at me, pleading his case. Patricia W. said she would be able to keep him until I could get him into a foster home so I took him back to the adoption center with me.

I sent out an e-mail asking for a foster home and lots of people came forward saying they could take him temporarily. Then I got this touching e-mail from ARFP foster parent Linda D. She wanted to foster him so badly. I could tell she would be heartbroken if I said no. I called her and she is so thrilled. She will get him tomorrow evening around 6:30.

Thank you to everyone that networked for him and offered help! Keep sending good thoughts his way!
