Their Smiles Say It All!

Four times a month dedicated ARFP volunteers visit residential homes and adult daycares for pet therapy. Rene' H. heads up this endeavor and does an awesome job! Observing her at one of these visits you quickly see her compassion for these people.
At today's visit they had Brittany Spears (Precious), Safari Santa (Tobias), Spiderdog (Sugar), Clowns (Cash and Otto) and The great Pumpkin (Alfred) and some regular human types.

If you are interested in participating in the Pet Therapy visits contact Rene' at rhendrix2@triad.rr.com.

Next Step Cat Food

We feed the cats that live at the Next Step Adoption Center Purina Pro Plan Chicken & Rice. Right now we have seven full time residents at the adoption center plus at least 15-20 guests on any given Saturday and Sunday. We purchase the Purina Pro Plan at Petco or Petsmart. Donations of this food are always appreciated!

Currently living at the Next Step Adoption Center are Sherbert, Elliott, Java, Cheddar, Orlando, Angel, and sweet Rosa. They all have different stories and they all came from bad situations. They have all found a home with ARFP until they are adopted!

Two Newbies I forgot to Mention

We've been housing a feral mother cat in Dee & Chad S. house. Jennifer H. and I have been trying to find a barn home for her. I was able to get her into a feral cat home in exchange for a social kitty. Elliott was actually trapped in a feral cat colony. Once he was trapped it was obvious that he was social. Elliott is a Domestic Long Haired Orange & White cat. Is he ever a lover too! Every volunteer that meets him wants to take him home.

Java traveled to NC from Nebraska. Yep, she's a Cornhusker! Once she got to NC she found herself homeless and living at the Humane Society. To help out our friends, and to avoid Java going to an outdoor home, she is now living at the Next Step Adoption Center. She is declawed and spayed!

Come by to meet both of these new residents!

Please, please, please send people to the Next Step Adoption Center at 705 Milner Drive in Greensboro, NC! Our feline adoptions are down and we need more adoptive homes in order to rescue more kitties!

ARFP Represented at Career Day!

This past week was Career Day at Kimberley Park Elementary School. I attend this each year and this is what we looked like. They had us set up in the library and 3 classes at a time would come in and listen to me talk about my job. The children at KP are not exposed to as wide of a variety of things as you would like for them to be so this is a great opportunity for them to see things they have never seen before. I took Frazier and Kimberley, Britton W. kittens, and they behaved so well!

Just a few of many....

This is Shasta. She was one of 5 kittens left at our doorstep on a hot summer morning. Fortunately they all survived and are loving life!

This is Scottie! Is he not the cutest kitten? He is very endearing and will make someone a wonderful companion.

Cole is Scottie's brother and he is just as beautiful. We call all of these kittens teenagers because they are in that in between stage of kitten and cat. To us, they are all still babies though!

Some VERY good news!
ARFP volunteer Johnetta F. is home from the hospital! Don't ever scare us like that again Johnetta!

Meet Lucy & Linus' Little Sissy!

When I picked up Lucy & Linus last Sunday this littermate stood out to me for many reasons. There was a good chance she may go to the shelter, she was smaller than some of her siblings, and how overall sweet she was. The people that had the litter felt that she was unadoptable. Notice anything different about her?

She's missing 1/2 of one of her ears. According to the family that took this litter in, she was born this way. I'm not completely sure if this is true but she is so darn endearing she's hard to resist. Dee & Chad S. are fostering her and my guess is that she'll be adoptable! What do you think?

Welcome to ARFP

This is Linus.

This is Lucy.

We drove, and drove, and drove to look at this litter of 8 puppies on the other side of Asheboro. They are Lab/Beagle mixes born the end of June. The family that has them contacted Ruff Love Rescue who then contacted ARFP. The family has few resources and have tried to find homes for the puppies, with no luck. Ruff Love had the mother spayed and the family wants to keep her which is good. Pam S. agreed to foster these two cuties starting October 18th! Debi B. agreed to babysit, spoil, and feed them until then.

There is one more to this litter that we took in. Dee & Chad S. are fostering her and wait until you see her! I just could not leave her behind in Asheboro. Check in tomorrow to see her!

Pitiful Pup Update

Woody, as Linda D. has named him, is making progress by leaps and bounds. He visited me on Thursday so that I could make sure his gums were looking better and that he is pinking up, so to speak. He was so anemic when we took him in that I even thought a blood transfusion might be in order. Linda has done amazing things with this little guy. He is acting more like the happy puppy he should be and Linda has even taught him to sit for his treats. By this Wednesday he will be healthy enough to get his first vaccination. You can still see his ribs but not like before. Thanks for all your prayers! Thank you, especially, to the caring folks at the After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic! If not for you all this little guy wouldn't have made it!

Their BIG Day

Wednesday was the BIG day for 9 of our kittens. Khaki, Domino, Opie, Frazier, Kimberley, Zelda, Seth, Samuel, and Shasta are all "fixed" up now and ready for new homes to find them! The folks over at the Humane Society are always so good to us! I called on Monday to see when they could get 9 kittens in for surgery and they squeezed us in right away! Love them!
