New Babies

Introducing Rudy and Marcie. This one is Rudy. He is a Beagle Lab mix that was abandoned, with his mom and littermates, in the Asheboro area. We have four puppies from this litter in foster care and they all have great temperaments!

This is baby sister Marcie. She is a lover. This looks like her mug shot so I am posting two pictures of her so you see all of her cuteness!

Woody

Some of you have been following Woody, the little Brindle pup that was so emaciated, and the progress he has been making. Well, he is well and very much alive! He has gone from this....

to this.....

Woody is now a spoiled, active, happy puppy! Linda D. has had him since he entered ARFP and she did a fantastic job bringing him to where he is now. Randy P. is going to begin fostering him soon. In between he is at my (Sharon) house learning some manners. On the above night I failed.

New Rescues

The book sale ended on a very high note! We raised over $5000 for ARFP and even had someone lined up to buy every book we had leftover at the end! SWEET! We cannot say THANK YOU enough to everyone that helped with the 2008 book sale! This money we raised is going to help so many homeless animals!

I'll introduce you to a few of those that have recently been rescued that will benefit from the book sale...

Maple is about 10 weeks old and is a Lab mix.

Nadia is Maples shorter sister :-) She is a chocolate Lab mix. Seriuosly, she is shorter!

Annie is a one year old Aussie/Terrier mix. She only weighs 20 lbs. so what you see is what you get!

Find out more about all of these girls plus others that are looking for forever homes on the ARFP website or at Petfinder.

Today is Friday and...

Nadia was Pet of the Week on News 2 this morning. Go here to see her bio and video. What a great little Lab mix pup! She and her sister can be seen soon on the ARFP site or Petfinder.

The book sale started yesterday and our loyal dealers showed up.

We had thousands of books for them to buy too!

At these prices we sold lots of books, and baked goods, in 3 hours!

Thanks to everyone for their baked goods! We'll be getting even more today so drop by! We're open from 5-8pm today and 8am-1pm tomorrow.

Books, Babies & Training

The book sale is already kicking our behinds! 10am until 8pm is just a long day no matter how old you are! Here are a few shots! Once baby Grady arrived it was hard not to snap pics. He helped mom put out the children's books!

We have been really slack in working our foster dogs to help them become better citizens so Sunday we starting correcting that! I must say that Woody did the best with Linus running a close second and Dexter right behind him. Here are shots of us teaching the babies to sit when we come to a stop.

Woody has gotten just a little full of himself so we practiced with his new Halti. This worked amazingly well for him and he soon learned that it wasn't so bad.

Here's Linus doing a great sit for Randy! He is such a good pup!

Here is Dexter sitting pretty for mommy!

Spay-Neuter is the Answer

Please consider donating to the ARFP Spay/Neuter Fund via the charity badge to your right. Thousands of little ones in our community are in need of these services. People from OUR community call on ARFP every day for help with these services. They have found a homeless puppy or kitten and want to keep it but do not have the funds to provide spay/neuter services. This fund helps not only ARFP foster animals but hundreds of other strays in our community.

Busy Week

So, this is a very busy time for ARFP. Saturday we have our Rabies Clinic from 9am until 1. Tomorrow I will be posting more flyers and signs in the neighborhoods surrounding the clinic location. It's extremely important that we vaccinate as many animals as possible. It is estimated that between 80,000 and 100,000 pets in Guilford County are not vaccinated against rabies. We've had 15 or so reported rabies cases in Guilford County this year. Do you know what will happen if your unvaccinated dog or cat comes in contact with a rabid animal? Quarantine time on your dime is the best scenario. Death is the worst scenario. All because you didn't get your pet vaccinated for rabies. If you want a flyer to forward to everyone you know telling them about this FREE Rabies Clinic e-mail me at savapup2@aol.com. The Rabies Clinic is at Peeler Community Center located at 1300 Sykes Avenue in Greensboro Saturday from 9am-1pm.

Sunday is our Book Drive!!! We have plenty of boxes, thanks to Pam S, we have extra volunteers, now all we need are YOUR BOOKS! Bring your books to 705 Milner Drive in Greensboro. This is across from the campus of Guilford College. Volunteers will be available from 12noon until 6pm to take your books. Hardbacks, paperbacks, cookbooks, fiction, nonfiction, children's books, we'll take them all!
We do not accept encyclopedias or textbooks!

We need volunteers to help from 8am-1pm.

We need writers, crowd controllers, pooper scoopers and more!
**The adoption center will be CLOSED on November 8th.**

Cricket Update

Cricket's new mom sent me these pics. Cricket has been renamed Riley and looks happy as a clam! Dipper looks like he has accepted her too!

Ramblings

Yesterday was the first Saturday of extended hours at the Next Step Adoption Center. We were open from 11am-5pm and it paid off for sure! We received good apps. on two adult cats and possibly a third! We also had several lookers at the pups but no definite takers. Today (Sunday) we are open from 1-4pm.

Cricket was delivered to her new home on Friday afternoon. She will be a resident of Mebane, NC. She lives in a beautiful new area with lots of room to go for long walks and a nice back yard to run and play in with her new brother Dipper. We took her toys for her to share with Dipper although here she is hogging her fav!

Ah, he got the toy! This is Cricket's new brother Dipper. He is a Terrier mix and full of energy! I think he and Cricket will be great pals!
